Misnoma

Ayesha and her group MISNOMA are the authors of the music in our last movie BARCELONA SEX PROJECT
Misnoma’s style is arabesque latin funk soul.
“A modern Sade sipping cocktails with Thievery Corporation and Aphex Twin in Marrakech” (J. Muggs –The Wire)
From Brighton, UK over the seas to Barcelona, via the Mediterranean isle of La Maddalena, Misnoma have developed an eclectic style which seamlessly fuses intelligent lyrics (English with a bit of French and Spanish) and strong grooves, fronted by the beautiful voice of Ayesha, with latin percussion from Estéban, jazz-influenced keyboards, samples, beats, guitars, soaring strings, and video art by VJ Jo.
Ayesha’s ‘magnetic personality and powerful live performance’ (www.atiza.com review) has earned them a large following in Barcelona, where they are based and guarantees “an energetic and eclectic show” (BCN Nightlife). Residencies and gigs include the Apolo [2], City Hall, Club13, Oven, New York Club Barcelona, plus UK festivals appearances on Shambala’s main stage, Glastonbury’s Leftfield stage as well as main stage at the UK organised Rocket Festival in Granada, Barcelona’s BAM festival on the Plaça Catalunya stage, InVICtro festival and San Sebastian’s Jazz festival Jazzaldia alongside names like Erykah Badu and Herbie Hancock.
They’ve released an ep, “club13″, and recently appeared on Spain’s TV3 as well as on the 2006 Christmas ad for Catalunya’s leading cava Cordoniu. Their debut album “Make it Right This Time” was released in June 2007 on local indie label Xiringuitomusic and they have just come back from a tour in the UK and France with great gigs including the Thekla Social in Bristol, The Social in Nottingham, The Exeter Phoenix as well as festival appearances at Beautiful Days and Shambala main stage.
Misnoma tracks have been licensed to compilations including Soundial, Barcelona Raval Sessions Vol3 and New Sound Theory Vol4.
